Constipation
Everyone of us has experienced constipation, but this maybe temporary for some but a permanent problem for others.
Constipation can include, difficulties in defecating, hard /dry stool, irregular in having bowel motions, some may also be accompanied by painful movements and a burning/tender sensation in the anus whilst defecating. People that suffer from constipation may also experience mood swings, bloating of the abdomen, thirst, headache and pain in the abdomen.
Chinese medicine has long dealt with constipation and it has been one of the most common topics in the Traditional Chinese Medicine texts.
With Chinese medicine, we will look at the body as a whole and not just focusing at the large intestine itself.
There are many causes of constipation according to Chinese Medicine, some of these are often over looked by the conventional medicine.
It is not as simple as using laxatives or purgatives to treat the condition as a very detailed consultation will reveal the complexity of each individual's cause.
When there is a blockage it simply means that there is an imbalance somewhere in the system leading to constipation.
Here at Harmony Chinese medical Centre we will give a very detailed consultation in evaluating the cause of the problem, focusing within the body's physical structural as well as the internal organs. Once the cause is found treatments are likely to include Chinese Herbal Medicine and acupuncture which are carried out by our highly trained doctors in the most gentle and professional way. Followed by a modification in the person's diet and different food recommendations to our patients.
